Parisian in Punxsutawney
Hi babes! I know it's been a while since you've heard from me! Actually, due to some ~technical~ issues back in March with my domain, theclosetcomber.com was down for a few weeks (a super sad and stressful time in which I had an existential crisis). The good news is, however, we are back in business and back with fashion, of course! I am happy to be blogging again as writing/connecting helps keep me grounded, especially during these last few weeks of classes that have me tired and creatively drained. Contributing to The Closet Comber is the best way to refresh! Speaking of refresh, while I would love to escape to Paris right now, I had to settle for my hometown of Punxsy! I thought a few French fries and French outfit inspiration would do the trick (and lots of imagination)! So, as the French gals do, I kept it sleek, chic, and minimal, pairing a cream body suit with coordinating boots, a vinyl jacket, vegan leather shorts, a beret, and my new Yves Saint Laurent tote—nothing says Paris like a designer French fashion house. If you're like me and want to live out your "Emily in Paris" dreams on a budget, then keep reading to see how I keep it equally chic as "Maggie in Punxsy (and Pittsburgh)!"
The tote was the summer staple last year, and I have no doubt it will be an essential for hot girl summer 2022. I admit that I was a little late to jump on the trend, but I am so glad I did because this piece has been one of my best investments yet! The reason I never toted around a tote (see what I did there?) was because I always carry my purse. However, since I've moved to the city and walk literally EVERYWHERE, I've started carrying more than just a cute bag...now I carry my "fancy" shoes (like these stiletto heeled boots) and walk in my sneakers. Sure, I'll probably have a ~that girl~ moment where I post a pic of a flat lay with cute things I like to carry, i.e. pretty claw clips, fun lip gloss, perfume, or my Moschino wallet. In reality, though, it's mostly the shoes that kill my feet!
As a graphic designer, we have to take a moment to talk about this design! I know you're probably thinking it's very "plain" for me, but I am in love with the minimal type and neutrals. Don't get me wrong, I love to make a statement, but this tote goes with every outfit imaginable! The white on black creates a bold contrast, while the simple type is chic and sophisticated. One thing I've learned through my design classes is that, sometimes, less is more. I also love that it's black instead of the typical beige canvas because it gives it a more high fashion feel that isn't as organic looking. It is considered a designer tote which made the price tag slightly higher than average, but as something I use almost every day, it was worth every penny!
