Hello loves and happy December! Since December is finally here, that means it's time for my holiday series. As promised, I am bringing you looks perfect for the season. I will be showcasing outfits that you can wear for parties, events, or just going out; feel free to dress them up or down and add your own flair. The first look of my series is all about the rich, dark green color inspired by the beautiful evergreens we decorate for Christmas. I paired a velvet shirt with a green and black skirt, some fishnets, black suede booties, and a black military-esque jacket. It is a playful and youthful look, but definitely dressy enough for all your holiday needs. Keep reading for details about how I dress for the most wonderful time of the year!
Velvet is just as essential to the holidays as cookies and presents, so I did not hesitate to grab this dark green velvet tee from my closet. Of course, it is great all year, but there is something about wearing velvet for Christmas that gives me a warm feeling inside. My top is a regular relaxed fit t-shirt, but it is the velvet fabric that makes it glam. I paired it with this green and black skater skirt in a sweater material that is so cozy for the winter. Even though the top and skirt are not completely "matchy matchy," the contrasting fabrics pair super well and add depth to the look. Also, the velvet is more exciting than the usual black shirt. It is the subtle details like the various fabrics, and the print on the skirt that amp everything up. After all, there is nothing boring about the holidays, and the same should go for your outfit.
I think I need to start finding locations that have heat when I shoot...I just have to throw on jackets and blankets between takes! Though you can't really tell with my hair being in the way, my black jacket has military elements that I love. It has these big chrome buttons as well as some black embroidery and a peplum style. This jacket is light enough to wear indoors, but is actually rather warm. I would wear a heavy coat if you plan on being outside a lot, but for running to the car, it is so perfect and so chic! This look would be fabulous with the black jacket, velvet tee, and cigarette pants if skirts aren't your thing.
For some reason, my favorite pictures are usually the ones of my feet. This pic is giving me "A Christmas Story" vibes from the fishnets (and obviously the Christmas lights). I personally love fishnet tights and I am so happy that they are back on the scene because just about everyone wears them with everything. C'mon, you can't deny that fishnet tights aren't fun! They are a little rebellious, but still feel classy. With fishnets, however, you either seem to love 'em or hate 'em. If you aren't ready to take the plunge, regular tights or other patterned ones serve the same purpose! Lastly, you can't forget a black bootie. Mine are a little muddy from walking around all the trees and bushes, but you get the point. And let me just say that these suede babies are killer, in a good way! If you are going for a cool girl aesthetic this year, look no further than these booties. They give you height, look great with pretty much every outfit (especially for the holidays), and will give you the confidence to wear any look!
That is all for this week! My edgy side came out in this outfit, but don't worry, I have more holiday looks up my sleeve to accommodate different styles! I just had to wear this outfit because it screamed Christmas tree to me! Look for pieces in your closet that are a dark green color and pair them with your favorite black items to achieve a similar look.
