"Flowers and embroidery go together like cake and ice cream."
Hello again, all you fashion lovers! Another week has gone by and it is actually getting warmer in Pennsylvania (don't worry, the snow will come soon enough)?! That is why I am still showing leg and wearing my sandals! But, if you don't want to look like you're still living in your vacation attire, I find the easiest way to make an outfit more fall-like is to throw on an "extra" piece, like a jacket. This bomber jacket of mine checks off all the boxes; cute, comfy, and a conversation piece. It is crisp white with black contrast, and, yes, flowers! Flowers and embroidery go together like cake and ice cream, and I can't get enough. So, break out your embroidery needles, people, because it is taking over the world and runways, and designer brands like Dolce & Gabbana and Gucci take it to a whole new level. The black stripe going down each sleeve gives the jacket a sporty vibe and contrasts with the flowers. I paired it with a sleeveless pink ruffle blouse (so I don't get too hot), a simple black skirt, and block heel sandals. I wanted the jacket to be the star, so I kept my accessories and the other pieces minimal.
Like me, you can take a sleeveless top and pair it with a jacket for the warm September days. I pulled this "millennial" pink shade to match the pinks in the flowers. I know what you may be thinking, "What in the world is millennial pink?" Well, the definition spans a variety of light pink shades, but basically, it is a super popular color that appeals to the masses. And, my skirt is just black with an elastic waist. It is so soft and comfier than any pair of jeans or shorts that I own! I like to wear it high waisted, and love how it drapes. You can pull any basics from your closet to spice up with a fun jacket.
When you have a lot going on in a look, or just want to keep it simple, don't worry too much about accessories. I love to throw on a pair of shades because they add a cool factor and even a sense of mystery to any ensemble. My black ones are a cat eye style with cut out detailing, but any black sunnies will do! They pull together the black on the shoes, skirt, and jacket to create balance.
If you like to look taller, but hate walking in heels, try wearing a block heel instead of a stiletto. The thickness of the heel makes them much easier to get around in, and it is really the best of both worlds! Mine are simple and strappy, but they have a little fringe tassel at the zipper for added cuteness. And my final accessory has to be a bag, since I am a total purse girl! This tote from Kate Spade is just black and white, so you know before buying it that it basically goes with everything in your closet! The check design is a nice geometric touch that makes it interesting. A big tote like this is perfect for all of you on the go because you can fit school books, a laptop, and even some snacks in it. It seems like each new bag I get is bigger and bigger!
Sweater weather will be here soon so enjoy every last bit of skirts and sandals! This outfit is easy to imitate with a few simple pieces, and something that will make peoples' jaws drop! Look for things in your closet that have embroidery, embellishment, pattern, and colors because those stand out in the crowd. Have fun combing through those closets!
